Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design
LEED is a guideline and rating system for developing high-performance sustainable “green” buildings. It is the gold standard environmental rating system in the building industry. Certification is based on a system of points — the project must earn sufficient points in six categories, covering aspects from material selection to indoor air quality to energy efficiency. This is where geothermal systems fit into the equation—utilizing geothermal technology provides significant points towards a LEED certification, which in addition to offering tax advantages, is a major recognition in the industry.
In addition to building certification, LEED is a comprehensive system offering professional accreditation, training and practical resources. Chesapeake Geosystems has completed several LEED certified projects and is familiar with the rating system and protocols.
